Brava: Christmas activities organized by the chamber bring together hundreds of elderly people

The day dedicated to the elderly included several activities, from interactive activities, ambient music, a convivial lunch and sports moments, coordinated by physical education teachers.

Speaking to the media, the president of the Brava City Council, Francisco Tavares, highlighted that this year the organization had a special partnership with the Oeiras City Council (Portugal), which helped lead the entire process, together with a team “ multidisciplinary”, but also with the involvement of many institutions.

“We also count on the sponsorship of many people from Brava, both from the diaspora and locally, however, we can say that we managed to bring the majority of elderly people from the municipality who wanted to be here today at this gathering”, he highlighted.

The mayor highlighted that the city council did everything it could to have everyone present at the “convivial party”, providing means of transport to all Brava locations and that the result was fantastic and the turnout was very good.

In turn, participant Júlia Fontes Gomes was very happy and stated that she felt very “satisfied” at seeing friends she hadn't seen for so long.

“We are doing very well, they gave us lunch, we had a lot of fun and now we are catching up. Let’s pray and ask God to give us life and health so that next year we can be together again”, he declared.

Elderly Reinaldo Meirelles, resident of Lomba Tantum, also shares the same opinion, and took the opportunity to congratulate the organization of the event which, according to him, gave them a “magnificent gift” of meeting all the friends they had not seen for a long time. .

“When we are elderly, we don’t go out anywhere, as we depend on people for almost everything. Today this wonderful organization gave us the privilege of seeing and meeting many friends who we hadn’t seen for a long time”, he highlighted.

Reinaldo Meirelles also said he hopes that next year the “party” will be repeated with the same “enthusiasm” and joy as today.
